Buying New & Used Gadgets, Without the Risk


A high-growth e-commerce platform trusted by millions.


Problem Statement


Buying gadgets online — especially used ones — was risky.
Users struggled with trust, poor UX, and unclear product quality, while existing platforms made it hard to confidently compare new vs used devices.

Key pain points:

  • Low trust in used gadgets

  • Cluttered shopping experiences

  • Weak search and filtering

  • Inconsistent mobile experience


My Role

Lead UI/UX Designer

  • Led end-to-end product design (research → UX → UI → handoff)

  • Designed core shopping, search, and checkout experiences

  • Worked closely with developers and business stakeholders to drive growth




Objective

  1. Create a simple, trustworthy marketplace for new and used gadgets

  2. Help users find the right device fast

  3. Build confidence through verification, reviews, and secure payments

  4. Ensure a seamless mobile and desktop experience



Key Features

  • Advanced Search & Filters: Users can easily find gadgets by brand, condition (new/used), price range, and other specifications.

  • Product Verification: A verification badge for used gadgets to assure buyers of their quality and authenticity.

  • Customer Reviews & Ratings: Users can read and leave reviews, helping others make informed purchasing decisions.

  • Secure Payments: Multiple payment options, including credit cards, and mobile wallets, ensure a secure and convenient checkout process.

  • Responsive Design: The platform offers a consistent experience across mobile and desktop, with adaptive design elements for different screen sizes.

🔍 Research & Discovery

User interviews revealed one major insight:

“I’ll buy used — if I trust the seller and the product.”

Competitor analysis showed gaps in:

  • Quality assurance for used devices

  • Clear comparison between new vs used

  • Fast product discovery

I designed the experience around clarity and confidence:

  • Clear product categorization (New vs Used)

  • Prominent verification badges for used gadgets

  • Advanced search & filters (brand, condition, price)

  • Clean, conversion-focused product pages

  • Frictionless checkout flow

The UI was intentionally clean and modern to signal trust and reliability.
